Diversity Education & Cultural Awareness
(DECA) Committee
DECA was formed to consolidate the previous six Special Emphasis Councils: American Indian Federal Employees Council, Asian Pacific American Federal Employees Council, Black Federal Employees Council, Disabled Federal Employees Council, Hispanic Federal Employees Council, and Women’s Federal Employee Council. This committee works on a vast array of diversity centered projects including: a celebration and training luncheon for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a program for Women’s History Month, Unity Day and other forms of diversity training and cultural celebrations, and community outreach. This committee is in its inaugural year and is looking for about six members from each agency to help plan these projects throughout the year.
This committee meets the first Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at various locations.
Mission:
To foster cultural awareness, develop leadership skills and cultivate the diverse heritage of the government community while promoting equal opportunity and fair treatment for all persons.
